Our panel of San Diego CIOs and Technology Executives from a variety of industries will discuss critical issues facing their organizations and what is trending in today’s IT landscape.

This session will provide an opportunity for technology and business professionals to participate in a discussion into where technology is today and where it is headed in the future.  This is also a great opportunity for service providers, students and faculty to better understand what skill sets are in demand. 

A sampling of topics: 

  • How the role of the CIO is evolving as IT becomes more essential to business operations?
  • Given the evolving capabilities of the Cloud:
    • What changes do you see coming in how the CIO organization will provide the needed services and support to the business?
    • How will the CIO organization change to provide those services?
  • What has been the impact of Mobility, IoT and Blockchain in your organizations and supported business operations
  • What is the role of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics in your business?
  • What do you believe represents the greatest risk or threat to CIOs?
  • What are your predictions over the next 3 years?

Moderator: Steve Romeo

Steve Romeo has a passion for creating and commercializing innovative technology.  Over the span of twenty years, Steve has led teams in the delivery and deployment of internal IT systems as well as commercial mobile health technology.  He has created and designed solutions that leverage leading-edge technologies to assist and aid in the advancement of internal processes as well as the leading-edge of healthcare technology.  Steve also works to inspire the next generation of IT leaders through mentoring and involvement in the community.    With a career that began in San Diego in 1994,  Steve attended his first AITP meeting within weeks of his arrival to San Diego and has been actively involved since that point.  Steve has also been awarded the San Diego Top Tech Exec award, the CIO 100 Award from CIO Magazine, as well as the Computerworld Premier 100 award for technology leadership.

Kiva joined GE Ventures, New Business Creation in the fall of 2016.  She brings over twenty years of digital transformation, wireless and internet of things experience to the New Business Creation team.

Prior to joining GE Ventures, she was President, Smart Cities and Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), for Qualcomm Intelligent Solutions, Inc. focused on helping Cities and IIOT partners deliver on their connectivity and sustainability goals.  Prior to joining Qualcomm, Kiva held executive roles at both public and private-venture backed companies in the consumer products and financial services industries.  Kiva holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from Kellogg.
